Areas around the University grounds;

Fifth plinth, located behind the Priestman Building on a tree lined grass verge. A purpose built concrete plinth made to be used by the Faculty of Arts across a range of media uncluding performance.

I have used this plinth during this project as a base for a sculptural piece. This helped me realise that to use this plinth my sculpture needs to be a lot bigger in scale, otherwise the sculpture gets lost. The linear perspective also needs addressing. A sculpture that is made of solid metal material would be more suitable on this plinth.

The grassed area behind the Murray Library could be a possible site. I like the expanse of grass and how it has a slight incline, dipping down towards the library. Two grassed areas are divided by a path that has alot of footfall also.

Both sites being on the University grounds would make it easy to transport possible sculpture too. I have thought of a large sculptural piece but had worries over the transportation etc previously.
